Not to be mean, but I'm not sure why some of you guys need to complain so much about this contest. Tess's rules for this contest really aren't that strict, and as she said-- the buttons are likely going to be for sale down the road. You can even ask for parental help on this contest.

Someone in your house on a diet? Go buy a single cupcake from the grocery store, get some icing tubes while you're there and decorate it (even the sides like a big cake!). Or...! Look up how to make your own icing on the internet. When you're done, you can eat it so that your mom/sibling/whoever doesn't have to, or just throw it out. If they make cookie decorating kits, you can decorate your own cupcake too.

You don't even really need experience on cake decorating either. PLUS, you guys get some AWESOME exclusive cake items just for entering.

Don't want to or can't participate in this contest? Well, Poop! Sit this one out and wait for a contest that you can join.

i wish you could make it with in range of everyone... because i don't even have the money to bake an extra cake plus my mom is on a diet and I don't like cake enough :/

Yeah...I don't bake for fun and I don't even know where you get moldable icing. The rules for this contest are very strict so its not like you can mix things that aren't related to food.

I wish these could be for direct sale someday, I mean we can buy strictly digital pets for real money but we can't buy buttons?=/

nothing says you have to use moldable icing in your entry, you just shouldn't be putting non-food items onto a cake.

I don't know where you guys are getting the idea that the buttons will never be available for sale - I've already posted in the topic that they may someday be for sale.

Also, it's a cake contest, so the entry should be edible.. I don't think that's unreasonable

People that sell cakes professionally sometimes put figures or other small items on the top of them...not everything has to be edible. =/

I think this kind of contest only gives a strict window for people good at and interested in baking and is a bit unfair for that reason, especially since CS is not a cooking website.

Due to the nature of CS it would be nice if you gave a window to win these buttons through art or some other sort of form that doesn't have to be shown through an edible item.

And well "may" could intact mean it never actually happens. Not trying to be rude,just saying.

what other kind of contest would you suggest? An art contest restricts people who are not good at/not interested in drawing. Same for a writing contest. Same for any kind of 'creativity' contest.

A contest is a way of competing with other people, so of course not everyone has the same skills. Sounds like you're looking for a lottery.

- Oh and about that 'lottery' idea..... I don't think it would be a good one. How about..... hmm.... maybe a photography competition? I know it's still on the creative side, but it's a lot easier than drawing or writing because you already have the things to photograph- you just have to think of creative ways to put them in a picture!! It cold be a photography competition of taking a photo of something that reminds you of / represents CS.

Another idea would be a sandcastle competition because it isn't as hard as making a cake. I still love the cake idea, though. It's a really good one!

This reminds me- I just saw the sandcatle I made of Avian and Totoro in your signature, Tess, and I was so delighted!! Thankyou so much for putting it there!!

Hahah, a sandcastle would be a great idea, but if it's summer in America it's Wintrer over here, not many people go to the beach in Winter you know
