Now, here is how the rating system works;

Low quality – this entrant isn’t very good, but it is included in order to complete the dex. If another entrant for the dex is received, there is a very high likelyhood that it will be accepted. In other words, an entry with this tag is just begging to be replaced.
Medium quality – this entrant has some flaws that keep it from being High quality, but overall it is good. If another entrant for the dex is received, there is a chance that it will be accepted.
High quality – this entrant is the perfect example of spriting genius. It will take an unbelievably amazing entrant to replace this one. This shouldn’t stop you from trying, mind you – I may see something amazing.

So basically, Low is threatening to be deleted (0-1 stars out of 5), Medium is okay (2-3 stars), and High is great (4-5 stars). There is another rating system based on how much effort was put into making the sprite.

Recolor – as the name implies, this sprite is merely a recolor. Simple recolors are not as attractive dex entries as those with more work, so Recolors have a higher chance of being replaced if something better comes up.
Wings – A sprite with something added behind or in front of it (usually wings or a tail, but it can be other things, like Venusaur’s back flower). Wings technically means “Recolor with wings”. Pieces rated W should have involved more work to get to that stage than a simple Recolor, and thus should stand a better chance of NOT getting replaced.
Xtensive Work – This sprite has had more work put into it then merely recoloring it and adding wings – whether it is adding dots to the front (see Bulbasaur), erasing part of the Wing to curve it around the sprite (Vaporeon’s mask was one where I had to erase the Pokemon’s face until I could see Misty’s), or even making a custom “wing” (see Delibird’s cap). It basically means that you had to modify the source material in order to get it to work properly.

Keeping in mind that quality, not effort, is the primary determinate in how easy it is to replace a sprite. MEANING, if a high quality recolor is submitted to replace a low-quality but extensive work piece, the higher quality piece will win.
To submit an entry, send me a note containing the following;

-A link to the sprite in question (preferably, have it in your dA account). Having a single deviation with multiple sprites in it is okay, just tell me which you want me to submit. Make sure each sprite has enough width to fit in the boxes on the Gijinkadex (I believe the magic number is 85 pixels wide by about 100 pixels high).
-The National Pokedex numbers for each and every sprite you are submitting. The filing system I utilize uses the Nationaldex numbers, and I don’t want to be hunting for every single number if I can avoid it.
-Documentation for every sprite you use. Specifically, the name of the trainer class used for the work. If you want to add a little bit on what kind of work was involved, then feel free to do so.
-A 28x28 pixel icon, so that people can identify your sprite in the dex, should it be accepted. You’ll only have to send this once, with any luck. Try to make it simple, both in terms of design and color scheme, and of course make sure it isn’t too similar to anyone else’s logo. I would suggest making sure it works on the page before submitting it – you might have to resize it somewhat.

Try not to pick the same base as the pokemon’s immediate neighbors to modify. If that happens by accident, don’t worry about it, it’s not going to single your sprite out for deletion or anything.
For Unowns, the best quality one will receive the spot on the Johtodex. I will start an Unown dex if there are enough entries. The same MAY happen with Deoxys (more likely is that I’ll add more spots on the Hoenn dex, since Deoxys is the last on that page), but NOT with Arceus (well, maybe if there are multiple people, but unless each Arceus is different from every other Arceus sprite, I’m not doing it.

Oh, and characters with a white box around them are official, unmodified Nintendo sprites - fair game for anyone who wants to replace them.
---------------------------
Chickorita – Camper from HGSS
Quilava - Winter Ace Trainer from DPP. The guy who started me on doing this, band-junk, had a Typholsion sprite, and I wanted to do something similar but different. It comes out looking like Quilava because that's the sprite I used for the flames.
Sentret - Young Girl from HGSS (I think)
Pichu - The Pikachu girl from DPP. The tail was the most challenging part - I ended up just flipping the original tail around and reshading it.
Belossom - Touko from BW. Commission for Nommer of the Mew
Azumaril - Burgh from BW. Some color schemes just work on certain characters, and that's what happened here. I redid his belt buckle as well.
Unown (W) - Barry from DPP. Okay, I should probably explain. At some point, I want to do Unowns. But Unown is hard to do because it's all pretty much just black - sorta boring, no? The only way I can figure out how to make them unique is to pose their arms like they're doing some version of the YMCA with different lyrics or something. So until I grow enough talent to do that, here's Barry, because his arms looked the most like a letter of the alphabet.
Gligar – Dragon master from HGSS
Shuckle - Rich Lady from DPP
Piloswine – Rocker from HGSS
Delibird - Burgler, from HGSS. The hat was custom, and I'm not so sure how I did on it, so comments plz.
Smeargle - from the gen5 artist. I'm proud of this one - I had to do the tail by myself. I can re-color, but that's pretty much it, y'know?
Hitmontop – Street Dancer, BW. Not much to say, it isn’t the greatest thing I’ve ever made, but it does look a damn sight better than Kangeskhan.
Suicune – Karen. I don’t like how her tail goes...but it's better than nothing, I guess.
Entei – Bryce. On each of the legendary Dogs here, I think I left something on them from their original sprites. On Karen, it’s her top, on Bryce it’s his shoes…
Raikou – …and on Clair it’s her cape. That splash of blue there, near her buttocks? That’s supposed to be her tail – the idea is that it’s going underneath her cape.
Ho-oh – HO DANG, BURGHED AGAIN!!!
Celebi - Rich Boy from BW. I think this is one of the sexiest ones I have ever done.
