Description
A Forerunner AI noted for his sarcasm and distrust towards outsiders. This monitor was assigned to a communications outpost in the Coelest system, the same star system housing Installation 05. However, Melodic was assigned to Periost, the innermost planet in the system. Because of the nature of his assignment, he had very little to no contact with the monitor assigned to the Installation, 2401 Penitent Tangent. 1941 may be somewhat older than 2401, but may in fact be a composed Human judging from his limited dialogue with a UNSC special forces unit sent to track a target to his installation. He has had few interactions with outside Humans, which ranges from 3010 to 3235.Melodic is cranky, partly from his occupation of the facility for over a hundred thousand years, and partially because since the arrival of Humanity in the Coelest system, he has constantly been exposed to Human advertisements that unwittingly get sent to his facility, leaving him somewhat jaded as to how a species deemed to rule the galaxy could produce such useless services and products.
From the Journal of Sally Acorn, April 29th:
CHRIS: How did I do that? A second ago. How did I know which buttons to press?
MEL: It is a mystery as old as the Forerunners itself. You have had the information within yourself, given to you by our own, so that when the time comes for Humanity to inherit the Mantle, you will be ready.
CHRIS: Inherit the Mantle? What Mantle?
MEL: For some reason, Humanity has been declared the Forerunners' successors. I have listened to uncounted hours of your commercial advertisement, from fatty food products to male enhancement. How a species like yours is chosen to take over a galaxy-wide empire is beyond the scope of my processing. I was betting on the Unggoy.
CHRIS: I don't understand.
MEL: No. You will need to learn more yourself. I cannot tell you more. Learn from my makers. Provided what you find isn't covered by black ink. Another Human term I have learned well. Secrets about secrets. You are more like my masters than I thought.
EDIT: I'm really starting to feel the difference between Photoshop and ClipStudio. The linework was done by vectorization, which may or may not go well for me. I'll try something else next time.
