Description
The ill-fated Elijah Jones was the sacrificial lamb for the story Deception. An Ares-Class Heavy Missile Frigate, the Jones was a ship with a long and illustrious career lasting over a century of active service with only minimal downtime. The Jones was a combat vessel sent to patrol inner colony worlds for almost fifty years before it was assigned to Home Fleet in the fall of 3225.

In 3235, the Jones was reassigned to a new location - another universe entirely. The prior year, the crew of the supercarrier Indomitable had stumbled across invisible barriers to a parallel version of Earth. When the supercarrier returned, a stable link was established, allowing the Jones to cross over and be part of the fleet that offered protection to the inhabitants of this parallel Earth.

In 3239, after four years of safeguarding this world and engaging in a critical battle to expel Julian Kintobor from his last remaining power, the Jones was called to keep a vessel from escaping the planet - a small freighter called the Emerald Fox. Pursing the ship with another member of its patrol group, the Fairfax, the Jones attempted to overtake this freighter, receiving a surprising return shot that crippled its engines. However, the shot appeared to do more damage than it seemed, and in seconds, the reactor of the Jones overloaded and detonated, destroying the ship with all hands.

Unbeknownst to either the Fairfax nor the Emerald Fox that fired on it, the Jones was sabotaged by people loyal to the corrupt UEG president Troy Marshall, that had the ship rigged to blow in order to incriminate the escapees on the Emerald Fox. Also unknown to nearly all involved, the Fairfax had also been sabotaged, but the sacrifice of those two hundred souls was never carried out.

Those things that look like vents on the front of the ship are actually thrusters that slow forward motion, as it is a spaceship after all. RCS thrusters are all over the hull to roll the ship around, but knowing me, I forgot to put them on.
