Description
So, this is part of an old project (which i'll try to finish up now or at least share what i have), but i'm not kidding it's as old as the pyramids. This image in particular is like from 2010 or so, but it started the whole thing, so i figured i post it anyway.It's also pretty much pure sci-fi (to get a break from demons and religion-related hate-mail) though i'm planning to get back into fantasy eventually...
anyway, for the sake of variety you'll be seeing some robots from me

I like it a lot but there are a few things I'd love to se fixed with this. I don't really get what the dude is doing there except to give the robo dude some scale, he doesn't seem to be afraid of the robo thingy or even notice it, and the same goes for the robot. Now I know nothing of the project this is for but just as an illustration/concept painting it would help a lot if the robot was looking at the dude with his red eye thingy and the dude being in an action-ish pose. With that it would be more intense and you'd get this "shit's about to go down" feeling. Another thing is that you use a bit of atmospheric fog but you have a lot of it in the background making it just a mush of snow stuff (I'm assuming it's snow) but the guy an a lot of the robot is clear as day, if you've ever been in a place where it's that snowy as the background you can barely se anything, so adding a bit more would help distance the guy from the robot and giving it more scale. It also could help lead the eye around the page of used smartly.
But this being an old painting I'm sure some of the stuff I said you already know so, yeeeeah, still a really nice painting!

all that considered, this isn't something about generic racist robots who want to kill humanity, it's not about "shit going down" so an action pose would be illogical too. The project will be about how artificial intelligence evolves and how robots co-exist with humans in a post-apocalyptic environment.
In any case, i do appreciate the critique on the technical aspects. The only point in this sketch was to clearly show a robot versus a human figure, a line art of it would have the same effect, i suppose.

ah okay, well that's a really cool idea! You can do a lot with the co existing part and delve deeply into the social and political effects of it all. What will be the final product of this project?

i had a story in mind which i could just continue on (still talking it over with some friends), i'm not sure if it will be a long one so i might need to split it up in parts (in that case maybe some sort of web comic), otherwise if i can get all of it done at once it's going to be a one shot graphic novel.
