Well, you did capture the unhinged nature of the original poem in your design.

This picture justΒ caught my eye. I really like the simple cartoon style and the reference to Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. Poe really wrote some interesting works such as the Tell Tale heart and the techniques he used was superb in that one it really rattle your bones. Also I really dig how the subject doesn't have an bold black outline which is a style most illustrators are starting to adapt these days. Also it's interesting that the Raven is blending into his shirt so it makes you wonder is this guy the being controlled by the raven due to the lifeless expression on his face (classic and epic face by the way)Β or is he composed by ravens because the Raven appears to be coming out of his body when he's just simply perched on the shoulder... or is he? "You'll Never Tell" I suppose. XD
Finally I love the colors and their harmony. Dude. The gritty green background with the only source of light revealing the character as if the spotlight is on him to reveal such a fascinatingly unique character. Dude you have talent man. Keep up the great work and you'll definitely be picking up work in the field of horror in due time. That genre needs a fresh new look such as yours and as well as a new approach to the style and what it means to literally scare the s*** out of you.
Keep up the good work.
