Cliff ghast climbing aboard Lee Scoresby's balloon. Based directly on the description on page 320 of the Golden Compass : "A creature half the size of a man, with leathery wings and hooked claws, was crawling over the side of the basket toward Lee Scoresby. It had a flat head, with bulging eyes and a wide frog mouth...".05mm mechanical pencil. About an hour.
