Original: fav.me/daw9ugyMy friend who is a professional photographer edited my photo to bring out the detail in the background much more.
I need to improve in my post-editing skills so I can edit my photos like this!

Aaah, I flicked between the original and this one, and it's interesting how much of a difference the lighting is!
A good rule of thumb I've learnt is that the objects closer to your viewer will/should have more detail than the ones further back. Take the person for example; You can see more detail in the shadows of his hair and shirt in this one which brings him forward. In the original, there is less contrast and detail which pushes him further back into the picture. Darker objects are closer, lighter objects are pushed back. Detail is close, less detail is further back.
Learning perspective and backgrounds like this can really push your photography to the next level!
