Lots of stuff was used for this, sculpey for most of it- the characters, bottles, beer pumps, decorations that you probably can't really see The rest is mostly wood (MDF and balsa) and perspex.

Yeah it's sometimes tough getting the materials. I've been doing this kinda stuff for about 8 years, I'd like to do a lot more of it and improve on it but the more traditional sculpture seems a more likely way of making a living.

I'd love to make a stop motion short but I've never got round to it, New Years resolution- to start it this year.... (possibly)

Thank you, that's what I was going for, didn't quite come out as I wanted but maybe I'll try it again some day, make it look more 'film noir'.....

I love the 'realistic' feel of it. These are truly people (but a bit small).

Awesome sculpting and painting! Besides that, the shot is also very well set up, with appropiate lighting, composition and focus. Sweet work!!

looks really realistic, but the front figure is out of focus, which is a huge downside. What you can do to solve this is use manual focus, and reshoot the front figure, later strip in the front focus during PP.

Very true, I had a lot of problems with fitting her into the piece, I was never really happy with, but unfortunatley most of the models and the set are gone now. I do however have hundreds of shots of this set and the figures in different lighting conditions (somewhere...I hope), I dunno mabe I'll go back to it sometime. Thanks.

chriswalsh In reply to xSassyLassyx [2009-01-15 23:43:59 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I made a couple of press molds though so I didn't have to sculpt them all, just push the clay in and cut them out, still took a long time though! Thanks.
