While Ashley appreciated her dad's attempts to bridge their distant relationship by regularly sending her packages with whatever technology he was working with, she would've been more appreciative if he had been mindful enough to include any sort of instructions on how to turn on his latest 'souvenir'.

The girl's frustration quickly turned to confusion when the device somehow turned on while she was looking for a power button, the once-dark screen now brightened as a barrage of code quickly filled its display. She could barely catch any of the phrases that appeared on the screen before it was replaced with even more tech babble. Something about initializing 'fat.nro'? Wasn't that the thing used to format computers?

Whatever it was doing, Ashley could only wait for it to finish before the device actually booted up. With any luck, maybe it was loading a digital manual.

"Does this thing even have a switch?" The girl muttered to herself.

Ashley Robbins from the Trace Memory/Another Code series. The DS game was the first I got for the system, and was one of my favorites. I liked it enough to import the sequel and mod my Wii just to play it!
