Being a bassist is harder than you might think. Stuck between cramming yourself on a tour bus, cramming your mouth with cheap fast food daily, or cramming yourself into some skinny jeans, there's always the looming thought that something will bust before you even reach the venue, where you're expected to cram yourself onto a stage for about an hour or so to perform before doing it all over again.
But despite all this pressure, Shirley took some comfort in knowing that -- unlike her bandmates -- her ego wasn't the most bloated thing about her.
