It's been a long time since I've broken out the pencils for a full piece... now I remember why ><I got and her griffinches for March GAX.
I was inspired by a book I recently borrowed on Australian bird paintings. This is supposed to look like one of those old scientific drawings documenting new species, but it didn't quite get there.
They're based on two of my favourite finches back when we used to breed them, Kaf (above) and Zakka (below).

This is absolutely adorable ^^ The top male is the exact image of how I see them in my mind, it's lovely to see it drawn out-and I've no idea why, but I love their tails! They're both very well drawn, and I like your idea of trying to draw it in the style of an old scientific drawing, quite original
