It indeed is the twisted side of the tale... and a more interesting one... this new version ending is more realistic and appropiate to the society interactions...
Speaking of fairytales every story has its own holes, but the biggest lie of all is: "... and they lived happily ever after."... there's no way that Cinderella or Snow White could be happy with any prince, because the differences on criterions and on the approach of lifestyles between social classes are capable of destroying lives in an attempt of adaptation, and there's a lot of situations that we can talk about that should make this kind of marriages a living hell for the both... it better be that the "princess" ends where she really belongs.
The point is that your conceptual version seems to be the most correct one, so, consecuently, "twisted is right" (i like that)... Another beautiful artwork on the series, it is just adorable my beloved Athina!!!
