My camera. Even before I was frozen I was using it to hide from reality. I used to feel more secure and confident behind the lens. And in this new future world I am thankful to have it with me. Nobody needs my photos. Nobody will ever see them but me. Of all people I encountered who looked like regular humans at first glance, every one was a cyborg. Some just have expensive faux skin on them. I don't think they have any interest in photos. But it's a kind of therapy for me. Sometimes the robots look puzzled. They don't understand why I'm taking photos of them, but they don't object in any way. I'll use this protective mechanism for a while. I'll just pretend my goal is to explore the world and photograph it. Otherwise, I won't get far. I need a purpose. It may be a silly, imaginary one. But it's still a purpose.
