We were never meant to be
something you always knew
something I kept trying to deny
“You made me feel safe!”
I yell at you in a hoarse voice
“You made me feel like a person!
Like I actually mattered!”
my voice sounded worse with every sentence
“Yeah im just gunna go for a walk.”
I say quietly starting to walk away from you
I kick the ground under my feet
I know full well this is my bed I made
as my dad use to say
its time to lay in it
I can feel the rain starting to fall
its not going to stop me from continuing my walk
nothing is going to stop it
well nothing that I can see right now
“Where are you going?”
you ask from behind me
I don’t turn around
I just keep walking
yes, I know this will hurt more than help
I frankly don’t care
“Fine keep walking!”
she says obviously not coming after me
“Let me know when you get to wherever you’re going.
You owe me that at the very least.”
I don’t pay her any mind.
I walk for about an hour before I realize I’m lost
I keep walking anyway
my feet hurt
in all honesty
they’re probably bleeding
wouldn’t be the first time
I think to myself
“It’s getting dark moron.”
I say to myself
Then I suck up my pride
“Hey hunny.
Yeah I know it was childish.
I need picked up.”
you sound annoyed over the phone
I can only imagine how annoyed you actually are
I ping you my location
and wait for you to come get me.
I know full well tomorrow will be better
even if we aren’t sure where our better will be.
