Description
Looking forward to the TimesBy: Charles Phillips
Your footsteps still haunt this place
from time to time I have stop
just to make sure that you’re not there
I still see the things that remind me of you
the clock on the wall
that neither of us bothered to fix
still stuck on three O’clock
From time to time
I still find some of your clothes on the floor
like your still here
either that or I’m just lazy
and don’t want to pick up after you
I can’t seem to clean up your messes
its like I’m holding onto them
just so I can have something of you left
I hear the phone ring
hoping that it’s you on the other end
I know it won’t be
I know that you can’t be there
and it my fault
Your footsteps still haunt this place
from time to time I have stop
just to make sure that you’re not there
I've cleared out the part of closet that was yours
it took me all day
I had to stop when I got to that white nighty
the one you wore the first night you stayed
you thought it would be nice to surprise me
I was surprised to say the least
I still see your reflection in mirror
those soft eyes stained in the glass
and that smile cooked into the surface
I can’t seem to brush my teeth in there anymore
so thank you for that
It doesn't matter where I am
I open the fridge and I still hear you
you telling to close the door
asking me if I was born in a barn
to which I would always
reply with a pig grunt or a cows moo
then you’d giggle
and ask me for the milk
Your footsteps still haunt this place
from time to time I have stop
just to make sure that you’re not there
Your coffee cup still there
located in the same spot you left it
right next to the coffee maker
I haven’t touched since you've been gone
heck I haven’t even made coffee since then
I can’t stop thinking about Saturday mornings
You still have a spot in the bathroom
the spot where you tooth brush was still empty
your robe nolonger hanging by the shower
no more fruity smelling shampoos
or random razors either
I keep trying to clean those spots in the living room
those spots where you spilled nail polish
we just let it dry
we knew polish remover would stain the carpet
or the spot in the couch that we broke
playing the floor is lava
the smirk on your face before you pushed me to the floor
Your footsteps still haunt this place
from time to time I have stop
just to make sure that you’re not there
Everything about you haunts me
and I miss everything about you that haunts me
sometimes you need a ghost in your life.
