Queen of The Meadow

The sunlight hits your skin
the colour of the purest alabaster
and I am amazed by its brilliance
and your beauty

“Come on I have a surprise!”
I say excitedly
you don’t look thrilled

“Why am I dressed up?
Aren’t we only going for a walk?”
You ask
your voice dripping with borderline anger

“You’ll see,
and I promise it’ll be better than last surprise.”
I reply as I hold the door
and watch as you walk through the threshold

We walk side by side
for a long while it seems
you keep complaining about your shoes hurting your feet
I ask you more than once if you’d like a piggyback ride
but every time you tell me no
with no reason given

We cross the usual streets
and stop signs
“Why do you always plan these things on the most random times?”
You ask me annoyed
I quickly hop in front of you
and turn to face you
“Because let’s face my dear,
if I didn’t choose to be spontaneous how would the world keep spinning.”
I say as I place my hands at your waist
and left you over a puddle at the edge of the sidewalk
and pull you close
you blush a little before you say
“I saw that,
and I am a big girl.”

“Sure you did.”
I sarcastically reply
“I did,
I honestly did!”
You quickly fire back in that beautiful annoyed tone I am so very use to hearing
We continue to until we reach the edge of the woods
you give me that look like you aren’t going in there
“Come on,
the surprise is in here.”
You give me the meanest look you can
“Not while I’m dressed like this.”
You say even more annoyed then before
I grab your hand
and pull you over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes
you kick me hard in the stomach
and I nearly double over in pain
and set you back to your feet
“I told you I didn’t want a piggyback ride,
what makes you think I want to be carried like a potato sack?!”
the anger drips from your words
I apologize
and stand back up

“It’s not that far ahead,
I promise my dear.”
I say in a chivalrous tone
then walk past you only to look back
and see you following me
“You know that my favourite dress you own.”
I see you blush once again
you tell me shut up when see I notice
“Why, can I have an opinion on what you wear?”
I ask in a curiously
you don’t say anything but keep following
then I stop and turn to you once more
“We are here.”
and you stare at me the most confused I’ve ever seen you

As you caught up to my side
you see it
your favourite chair from my apartment
and the confusion continues to grow even more
and I keep getting more
and more pleased by this
“You know I’m not walking in the field in these shoes.”
you say
“That piggyback ride offer still stands.”

“No, for the last time!”
you yell at me.
I ask you why once more
“Because you don’t give a lady in a dress a piggyback ride her butt will show.”
I simply look around
and point out that there isn’t anyone around
you roll your eyes
and say fine but under the terms my hands don’t go near your butt
I agree
and turn as you jump on my back
and nearly fall over
you put your arms around my neck
and I loop my arms around your knees
my elbows hold your knees tight against my body
I blush a little as you lower you head down
and nuzzle close to the side of my head
“Do you remember the last time we were here?”
I ask softly so you won’t stop nuzzling
“Yeah, we were kids.”
you reply with nostalgia love in your voice
then I sit you down in the chair
and quickly run back about fifteen feet
you look at me
and ask if I’m going to just leave you
I turn around
and pull my camera out of my dress pants pocket
and take a picture
“Don’t you even,
you better delete that!”
you yell at me
I just walk up to you
and simply say
“You’ve never look more beautiful now then you have in your entire life.”
Then you final ask me why that’s my favourite dress of yours
I walk up to you
and tell you
“Because every time you wear it your eyes stand out brighter then bluest skies.”
and after you blush one final time
I look you in the eyes
and I know you’re mine
