listening to the words takes me back
back to our first date
back to when I first saw your eyes
back to when I knew you were the one
Im reminded of that ugly white sundress
the one with the black small polka dots on it
I hated the way it looked
but you loved it because it had pockets
I like how excited it made you
you stood in the bed of my truck
and made me slow dance with you
I wouldn’t trade that moment for all the dollars in the world
maybe for some gold doubloons
but most definitely not for any dollars
I’m forced to think back to the our wedding day
the first time I saw that dress on you
well it reinforced that you were the most beautiful woman in the world
and just how lucky I am

I think about us laying there on the bed
the breeze blowing the curtains over us
those things were basically useless
we both knew you picked them out to make the room look better
I didn’t mind it even though I thought they were dumb
I just loved see you smile
and they made you do that
Our memories make me think about
the day you handed me the test
and told me that I was going to be a dad
I could never be any happier
or scared shitless for that matter
you looked like you felt that same way
we were amazing in that moment
