Description
To The Unnamed Child(The fears of a Father)By: Charles Phillips
Now as I approach the place no Father should
Now as I walk to bury my child
I think about all the things that you have done.
and all of those which you will not.
I think of all the games we played
or how we'd watch cartoons on Saturday.
I also think of all the tears that you cried.
Or how you'd never let me shed a tear when the Kemo Nurse would come near.
You were my little champion and showed no fear
"I love you daddy" the only words you say
Besides when you ask me "Why do you cry."
All I can do is look back and say "crying is a daddy's way, to let you know his way of love from both me and your father above."
I remember how I carried you and put you in your bed.
And tell stories to you about how everything will be ok.
Even though I knew it was untrue.
Now as the tears roll down my face.
As I walk through this dreaded place.
I think of your laugh
How your smile brightened up my day
Mostly I remember how I love you.
