The days are getting shorter, the nights are growing, until they are yet equal again on September 22nd. The fruits, that ripened in the last warm sunrays of the late summer, are harvested now. There are quite some festivities like Mabon around the autumn equinox and the harvest in the northern hemisphere.
After a long time of being cared for, many young owls like barred owls (Strix varia) gain their independence in the beginning autumn.
