It took me 15 seconds after reading this comic to figure out that this was a Death Note reference. How appropriate considering that a majority of the voice actors in Friendship is Magic worked on Death Note too!

An investigation into the event revealed that Sweetie Belle had not, in fact set off the trap, but that the trap had been incorrectly designed, and had set itself off when the plastic bag storing the gasoline was dissolved by said gasoline. Sweetie Belle just happened to open the drawer at the wrong time. The notebook contained inside has been partially reconstructed, and appears to contain a list of names of the recently deceased, some with detailed descriptions of final actions before death. Police are still investigating the issue.
