Description
Edit: Updated with tags. This drawing took a long while for me to figure out. When I had the main foreground done, it occured to me that I should probably add a background. I guess this counts as a glimpse of Green’s throne room.
Similarly to the image with Snow Diamond, this has a story with it. This continues that of the Green Diamond Arc started with The Saga Begins ( circifox.deviantart.com/art/Th…).
~*~*~*~
Light Green Pearl had accepted the (unfortunate) reality of her current situation that she genuinely didn’t want to be in, especially at this time. Perhaps any time, really. Aquamarine had brought Pearl back for a reason, even dragging her current mistress into it. Green Pearl was pleased to see her old friend again for the first time in hundreds of years.
LGP didn’t mind seeing the other gems of her former court. She hadn’t had the chance to talk to them in a long time. Still, she was terrified of seeing a certain gem in the court, or rather, it’s leader.
Pearl had every reason to be afraid of Green Diamond. She wasn’t a part of the main authority, and LGP remembered that her former Diamond was quite mild in comparison to those of greater authority, but she didn’t know if she had changed.
Then there was Blue Zircon. She had been sort of quiet since they had arrived, and spoke to some of the Gems, but LGP could tell her mistress looked uncomfortable, if not, uncertain of the current situation she was in. Aquamarine and Green Pearl were taking Zircon and LGP to introduce/reintroduce them to Green Diamond, and though the walk was awfully quiet, Zircon expressed her concerns to her friend.
”So... you served under a Diamond, Light Green?” Blue Zircon asked, trying to wrap her head about it.
”Yes and no. I served under Green Diamond technically, but I was a Pearl of her Emerald.”
Blue Zircon gave her a strange look. “Didn’t you say that you served on Homeworld?”
”I did... technically Green Diamond’s Court is a sector of Homeworld. I probably should have been more specific about it.” Light Green Pearl said, scratching her head. Blue Zircon calmed down a little and shrugged. “Ah. It does make some sense that you weren’t as specific. I remember you were in quite some distress when you got separated from your master.”
Aquamarine would have brought up Emerald, but they were already at the tall doors of Green Diamond’s Chamber. Green Pearl silently motioned for them to wait as she opened up the door, going over and beginning to type in the code. Aquamarine had her hands on her hips, her watery wings slowly flapping in the air. “I believe my Diamond will be quite impressed with me that I was finally able to bring you back, Light Green Pearl. Perhaps this will finally get me the recognition I’ve long deserved!” She said proudly. Green Pearl scoffed at that as she finished up inputting the code.
A wash of anxiety came over Light Green Pearl. She was ready to leave, but at the same time, she couldn’t just leave in the presence of a Diamond unless she somehow managed to sneak out. LGP didn’t want to risk doing that. Plus, knowing her luck, she’d probably be quickly caught.
LGP knew that she was doomed.
When the doors opened up, Aquamarine and Green Pearl led Blue Zircon and Light Green Pearl into their Diamond’s chamber. The doors closed with a whir behind them, and there was a slight snore. At a gigantic throne, there was an enormous gem in a green gown, with long, wavy green hair that went past midback. On her right side, she had a beauty mark by her eye on her face. Her eyes weren’t seen as she had fallen asleep in her throne, and was still sleeping when they came in. She had a green gem on her chest in the shape of a Diamond with four facets.
This figure was Green Diamond. Blue Zircon and Light Green Pearl (who was shaking in terror), were going to show respect to her, though Green Pearl and Aquamarine paused them. On normal circumstances, Aquamarine wouldn’t dare wake her Diamond, but she knew it was necessary to go against it as this was important. The beryl cleared her throat and proceeded to address her loudly to wake her up and catch her attention. “My Diamond! I apologize for interrupting your slumber, if you can hear me, but you need to wake up now.” There was a slight echo to Aquamarine’s voice.
Green Diamond appeared to stir, her lip twitching, and her eyes appeared to flutter open. She then quickly stretched and yawned, covering her mouth with her hand. Her green eyes had black diamond shaped pupils. LGP noticed that the Diamond had registered Aquamarine and her Pearl’s presence, but not Zircon’s or her own presence yet. LGP would’ve dragged Blue Zircon out with her, but the giantess likely would have noticed them, so she stopped the temptation.
The diamond yawned again. “Mm... Aquamarine? Is something the matter? Why did you wake me?” She groggily asked, looking a little unimpressed that she was awoken.
Aquamarine smiled and saluted Green, then bowing to her. “My Diamond, I apologize for interrupting your rest. While on my travels, I came across something important that I knew you’d favor, and I wanted to present it to you.” She said, finishing her preface. Green Diamond paused, crossing her arms.
“...Ok? What is it? Please don’t tell me you’ve ruined something again.”
”I didn’t, actually.” Aquamarine said proudly. “In fact, I found Pearl!”
Light Green Pearl was dying on the inside. Green Diamond didn’t appear to believe Aquamarine’s statement, pointing out the obvious. “Yes, Pearl is right there. What’s the point you’re trying to make here?”
Aquamarine shook her head furiously. “Oh! No no no, my Diamond! I found Emerald’s Pearl.”
Green looked ready to fall back asleep. Aquamarine, who knew where this was going if she didn’t show proof, made Green Pearl move with a glance. Then, she motioned for Blue Zircon and LGP to step forward. The two Starlight gems showed their respect (Zircon bowed, and Light Green Pearl curtsied) to the Diamond. Aquamarine pointed at LGP. “See? I found Pearl.” She said, analyzing the gem. “Of course, she’s dressed much differently than she used to be. In fact, her insignia is gone, but don’t you recognize her?”
Green Diamond analyzed her, finding her familiar. However, she remained quiet. “...Suppose this is Pearl. She does seem awful familiar, but why is she with another gem?”
Light Green apeado was terrified to speak. Blue Zircon did it for her, bowing again. “Your grace, if I may.” She began, asking for permission. Green Diamond granted it, and Blue Zircon spoke. “I found Pearl lost on Homeworld when my residence was there. I took her in until her owner returned, but they never came. From what I know, Pearl and her former master were separated.”
Green Diamond found such plausible. “Hmm. That does make sense. Still, I need a bit more information.” The diamond proceeded to address LGP. “...Light Green Pearl? Might you have anything to add?”
Light Green Pearl stiffened up and saluted Green Diamond where her insignia used to be. “Y-y-yes, my Diamond. I remember being separated from Master Emerald, vaguely about Aquamarine being put in charge of me, and then i remember getting stranded from Aquamarine when we were trying to find Master Emerald. I met Mistress Zircon at some point, and I’ve mostly been with her ever since other than spending time on Earth when I got separated from my mistress and Lady Topaz.”
Green Diamond understood the recollection. She found her more familiar now, especially when hearing her voice. Nodding, Green Diamond proceeded to stare at Aquamarine. “So... You did seem to find Light Green Pearl.” Her stare shifted into an icy glare. “And it only took you hundreds of years to do your job!”
Aquamarine looked down in shame. Green Diamond took a deep breath. “Still...you did bring Light Green Pearl back.” Aquamarine’s little chest seemed to puff up with pride, and a smile appeared on her face. Gently, the Diamond added something else. “Now Aquamarine, Green Pearl, could you please do me a favor?”
The two gems looked up at her attentively. Green Diamond took a deep breath. “Leave. Now.”
Green Pearl bowed and quickly left the chamber. Aquamarine looked really confused, not understanding why they had to leave. Green Diamond explained herself, using her gentler tone again. “I don’t mind it hostilely, Aquamarine. I simply need to speak to our guests alone.”
It didn’t take long for Aquamarine to leave. When the doors closed, Zircon and Light Green Pearl were left alone with Green Diamond. Green Diamond motioned for Blue Zircon and LGP to move back. They silently obeyed until she made them stop. GD then rose from her throne, her tall form towering over the smaller gems. Carefully, she knelt down to the floor and held her hand out so that Zircon and LG Pearl would be able to walk upon it.
The both of them were hesitant. Green Diamond smiled at the two of them. “Don’t worry. I won’t hurt you two. I just want to see you eye to eye and speak on the same level.” She explained, motioning for them to come over with her index finger.
Blue Zircon crossed her arms. “But your grace. I don’t mean to be rude, but you are a Diamond. How might we speak on the same level when we are on completely different classes?” Green Diamond giggled at her, and scared her when she very gently poked at her face.
”Rank was never particularly important to me, especially in consideration of guests.” Light Green Pearl and Blue Zircon looked nervously at each other. Very hesitantly, they stepped upon the Diamond’s outstretched palm. Her slender fingers curled up against LGP and Blue Zircon (this was as means of balance) as she slowly sat up and seated herself in her throne.
The diamond smiled at them, bending her towards her so that the gems we’re closer to her face, but not too close. Smiling, she said, “I suppose now may be a good time to catch up over hundreds of years, wouldn’t you say?” Green Diamond asked in a quieter tone.
Light Green Pearl knew she wouldn’t be able to escape this, so she supposed that catching up with her Diamond would be fine.
Pearl was glad about one thing, however.
Her Diamond hadn’t changed all that much.
