My first piece for the new year! When I was buying some more doll customizing supplies that I needed for a project I started, I stumbled across some toned blue paper at Michael’s. I love trying out new paper, so I decided to do a drawing of Marla and Symphonia. I haven’t drawn them as mermaids in about a year since I did their initial redesigns in 2019. I used my colerase prismacolors for the sketch and decided to do a different approach with the lineart than I typically do. It was a lot of fun drawing and coloring them again! For Marla, I slightly altered her design while for Symphonia, I was working on trying to color her hair more consistently. Every time I draw her, her hair seems to be a different shade of light green or mint green (in both my colored pencil and alcohol marker illustrations), so I want to work on making that more consistent.
