Syren was almost inducted into the Silence Eternal cult, having had her vocal cords clipped as part of the ritual. Coincidentally, she was at the same cultbase as Norma Reedus in Badwater, and like Norma, Syren refuses to go back to that godforsaken cult. Now rendered mute, an engineer at the ARI gave her a voxcaster so she could speak, which she rarely ever does nowadays. She is now friends with Murmur, as they both share a quiet personality. The reason she wears bandages over her mouth is unknown, presumably a symbolism of her inability to talk or cry for help.
