After work, Jen and Demi went to group yoga. “I’ve never done this before.” Demi said.
“Oh well, you’ll love it, our teacher is amazing. She loves feminism and in a world where men rule, we need to embrace our feminine side.”
“Sounds wonderful.” Demi said sarcastically.
“HELLO my children!” The yoga teacher said to the group.
“Hello mother.” Everyone responded.
“Mother?” Demi whispered to Jen.
“She guides us through life, like our mother.”
“Ok…”
Mother was wearing a morning gown and was spinning around like she was embracing the female spirits. “I see we have a new member! So tell us who you are.” Mother said to Demi as she was sitting down.
“Oh, umm… Hi.” Demi stood up and said,” I’m Demi, I’m in a band. Summer Days, check us out sometime. And I guess that’s it.”
Mother got up and walked over to Demi, “Hear, lye down.” She said as she gave Demi a yoga mat, “We here are a family, and I’m going to be your spiritual guide and teach you to say yes to being a woman. Now, to establish a bond, can you share with us something bothering you and I may be able to help you.”
Demi thought for a second. She tried to word it so she didn’t sound crazy. “I experienced something and not sure what to think of it. I could try it again… maybe… but I don’t know what will happen if I do.”
“I see, I see… we as woman,”
“Oh brother…” Demi thought.
“Can try new things.” Mother continued, “In the past, we have been repressed by men, and we need to assert ourselves. Be an explorer, try new things that haven’t be done before. Be a woman!”
None of that really helped Demi. She left after that because she realized the whole thing was some feminist meeting thing.
