Description

Black and Hideous, the two words JRRT used to describe Sauron after Numenor fell, were my focus in this drawing. Conceived as a sort of anti-Mona Lisa, the landscape of Mordor in the background is an ironic imitation of the landscape in Leonardo’s painting. The Palantir under his hands shows Middle Earth on which his “sights” were set. “Sauron after the Fall of Numenor” 12 x 9", pen on Canson Bristol Smooth, is available here:          richardclaraval.net/2019/3/4/2…

Goodness gracious me, you've made Sauron's own face more intimidating than that "Mortal Man your time has COME" helmet design so lovingly crafted by Weta Workshop - WELL DONE and congratulations on cooking up a superbly intimidating, yet suitably wrecked looking Sauron.
