Description
The rain beat down on the green countryside as warm fires and pleasant company filled the surrounding estates. You however, were not so fortunate. Walking for hours on end, you were soaked to the bone. They had finally had enough. Those people, those selfish horrible people whose house you lived in. They too, had grown ashamed of your poverty and origin. They had run you out the moment the first guests stepped through the threshold of their mansion.

Clad in the torn remains of what was once a dress, you trudged along the muddy road. The black shadow of Death stalking you with each step. You halted as coughs tore through you. The fever was expected, but not how quickly it had come. You couldn't imagine moving any further. But if you fell now, you would never again rise. Staggering onwards, you prayed that you might reach a haven soon. And like a sign, light filled your vision.

Before you stood an entrance to an estate. Upon thinking, it wasn't entirely surprising as people had mentioned the Trancy Estate was right down the road. You reached the door, and hesitated before using the grand door knockers.

It opened almost immediately.

A man stood there, black hair and olive green eyes. You felt yourself stiffening at the hostile and unwelcoming aura emanating from him. He started to close the door, but was interrupted by a lively and.... colorful figure.

"Well Claude, who is it?"

He came up to the man's side and looked over you diligently. Blond hair and sky blue eyes. You felt a blush rise when you realized: he was actually quite attractive.

"Hello! My name's Alois Trancy. Who are you?"

"(F-f/n). (F/n) (l/n)."

"Well (f/n), you are officially my honored guest."

What?

Before you could ask (or protest) he had you by the hand and was dragging you up the stairs, completely oblivious to the fact that you were tracking in mud and spraying water everywhere. Pity for the servants came to mind, and you tried to stop. Alois however, held you in an iron grip and refused to let go. He tore open a door and pulled you in. A lovely (f/c) bedroom left you speechless. Such extravagance!

You were to busy looking around to notice that Alois had backed into the doorway.

"I'll send the maid to get you settled in. Good night!'

He slammed the doors closed before you could respond. Your mind was reeling. What... had just happened? You shook your head, trying to clear it. This place was strange. A knock caught your attention.

"Come in."

"Miss, the Lord Trancy sent me to assist you."

"Ah thank you, that's very kind of you both."

The maid helped you into a bath, and some fresh clothing. Afterward, you felt a million times better and the fever was now nonexistent. The maid gave you a repectful curtsy and began to leave.

"Wait. What is your name?"

"Hannah, Miss."

"(f/n)."

"Miss (f/n)."

You gave her a warm, reassuring smile. At first, she had been thoroughly afraid of you, but now she seemed to have opened up a bit. She was a very pretty woman, even with the bandage covering her eye. After she left, you felt unbearably tired and decided to sleep. And your dreams were strangely enough, were accompanied by Alois....

~~~Later in the morning~~~

"Thank you so much for your generous hospitality."

You curtsied to Alois, who was currently eating breakfast. Being an early riser, you had long since retrieved your belongings and had been waiting for him to wake so you could say goodbye. He paused in his meal and stared at you blankly.

"You have a wonderful home, but I cannot intrude any longer."

With that you straitened and turned, ready to walk out the door and inwardly saying not to look back.

"No!"

Arms secured themselves around you as Alois hugged you from behind. He began sobbing into your (h/c) hair, as he griped you like drowning man to a lifeline.

"No (f/n)....Don't leave me.... You can't leave me...Not you too..."

You had no idea what was happening. One thing you knew for sure though, was that his cries were sincere. Empathy filled you. He too had suffered, and it seemed that it had been the way you suffered. His words were suddenly different. Same, but with a different voice. Your own.

"No! No, please Mommy, don't leave me!"

Tears welled up in your eyes, and you turned around to pull him into your own embrace. Your own past had come to haunt you once again. Abandoned as a child, you had spent your entire life traveling from rich estate to rich estate, trying to survive in this cruel world. Some refused you instantly, while others hired you as a servant. At times, you were even taken in as a guest. But they always left you behind for something else. Always. And it hurt every time.

Alois had initially been surprised by your reaction, but he didn't argue or protest as you continued to lock your own arms around him. You looked up into his blue eyes with your (e/c) ones, and raising yourself slightly, brought your lips to his ear and whispered a promise.

"I won't leave you, Alois. If you swear never to leave me."

He didn't hesitate in the slightest, and smiled before pulling you into a kiss .

"I promise. I'll never leave."
