This space man is part of a space mining world. On these worlds it is mostly useful to be a ... well a miner, mining stuff. But not being prepared for possible dangers is risky, so for every mining colony on the planet, you will have security. They often double down to also be workers for heavy machinery. With their heavy guns or even rocket launchers, they will provide the nessacery safety for others, putting bullet holes in space raiders/pirates and deadly animals.
