Description
Adding some smaller details, now! Cargo hatches 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 are all in, as well as the breakwater on the forecastle, the docking bridge on the poop deck, and the collapsible lifeboats (two on either side of the first funnel and two inside the cutter lifeboats). Oh, and the crow's nest and compass platform!Oh, and yes, I realised that the lifeboats should have canvas covers over them. Thankfully, they're a separate save file, so I can add those at any time. I also kind of love how this shows off the benches and the oars.
Yeah, again, definitely smaller details. Oh, and I also flipped that one crane on the forward well deck. I can't find a good photo, but the others were positioned symmetrically, and it kind of annoyed me, so I changed it. I don't know if that's historically accurate or not, I might change it if I find a good source showing otherwise.
Oh, and I upped the roughness and downed the metallic of the deck, although the deckhouses definitely still reflect a LOT of light down onto it. I think part of that is that they're painted white. They also are quite metallic (which I actually think is inaccurate), so that's probably having something to do with it, as well. Definitely also doesn't help that there's no wood texture on the deck, yet.
I also decided I actually want some of the window frames (specifically the ones that protrude, so the ones across the officer's promenade, the forward section of A-Deck, etc.) to be proper 3D models, but very, very basic. The portholes, plating, and B-Deck windows I still intend to texture on once the rest of the ship is done. Well, I may 3D model the hull entry doors, so they can actually be opened. I've given up on that functionality for the portholes for this model, though.
Anyway, next to add I think will be some of the cowl vents and the intakes flanking the funnels. Oh, and support braces on A and B Deck. It's kind of annoying me that the bridge is supported and not the entire aft end of the A-Deck promenade. From there I really don't know, I'm sort of winging this. I might model a generic staircase to add to the forecastle, poop deck, and docking bridge. I do also want to do railings, but cylinders are a pain (and, honestly, curves aren't much better. Both methods are frustrating).
Anyway, hopefully you like this one!
