i'm flattered you like my picture, but why on earth would you want a portrait of SOMEONE ELSES CHILD on yourself? especially as the childs father had ~tat2istcecil , one of the worlds best portrait artists, tattoo it on him. you'll never get one better, so please dont bother.
i urge you to check out ~tat2istcecil 's work, hes incredible
ethan as a zombie for the preparation work for the manchester zombie walk in november 2009, both my little ones are being used for the promo photography and vids. although i'm not the photographer, i couldnt resist taking some shots of my kiddies being evil
fake blood made from syrup and food colouring, plastic halloween prop and, although you cant see it here, taken in a graveyard

Terrifying, but i love his innocent expression.
It makes me think of when you see a little kid that's been eating jam or chocolate, and it's all round their face, and they say it wasn't them eating it

soo... the image. It really stands out! It's shot in a documentary style, and so natural. Even down to the way his fingers are placed. I want to know how you felt when you produced this image. I know it's different when it's your own flesh and blood (excuse the pun) and challenging to photography someone so close to you, but this is powerful. Utilise what you've got, it's damn good! :-D
btw. I just won a Student Entrepreneur of the year award! I'm buzzin' with excitement... soo much to do, so little time, so much going on...

i didnt really feel much of anything when i was photographing it, it was a huge challenge to get him to stay in focus as he's walking now, especially as i was taking this at 18mm and i was trying to get as close as possible. but the feeling i got when i was editing it is different, excited, freaked out, proud, all sorts of things

Images like this resemble important and innocent photos such as those by Diane Arbus. A seemingly innocent photo of a boy in a park holding a toy grenade serve to make an important statement about society. Just thought about what zombies represent as well. There's so much behind something like this.

Sometimes I am very quite until there is something worth really talking about. Seeing this image was one of those moments for me.
I guess something I have to mention that has just popped into my head. Sometimes you can create images that have deeper emotional impact and meaning for particular people who view them without intending to do that, but that doesn't matter. It's the fact that you've done this that counts. Realising that you've done it and re-creating that emotional impact in a future image should be a goal of yours. I know it was for me when I realised that documentary photography really did make a difference in the world.

actually that makes a lot of sense. i've often thought that my work lacks soul, depth, emotion, but when you put it like that it feels a bit different.
ste once asked me why i thought my work lacked all that and why, therefore, i didnt consider myself an artist. we conversed for a while til he said 'you create pictures for fun, out of joy, joy is an emotion. you are an artist'
