the himalayan alabaster preserved her in a most geometric manner.. snapping flesh to grid.. kilned mountwise and underly.. the eyes though.. something about those eyes.. so we carved her outta there and have hired a few sherpa boys to carry her down.. the mountain is lousy with them.. they follow you up and down the pass playing pan flutes and breathing so very easily... singing even.. as we dizzy gymnasticate crevasse and cliff.. i've seen six others frozen in the ice so far.. they just leave em up here.. the sherfolk have some kinda superstition about bringing them down.. they wont even touch em.. not for usd paper.. say the mountain has a claim on em.. i don't speak the language but they seem to know another tongue beyond that one even.. song of the mountain or some such.. they'll tell you all about it.. they all got some relative or family friend a generation or two back that made the mistake.. the sickness starts in first.. mild.. like a flu.. you must understand though.. these people do not get sick.. healthiest strongest culture on the planet.. almost a natural species of man.. but you get one that fuddles with an offering unto the mountain.. that's it.. after the flu symptoms come auditory hallucinations a couple days on.. like i said.. i don't speak the language.. but i don't think what they are hearing is anything good.. this is followed by full on five sense dream visions of very highly dramatic pageantry.. some real ancient archetypal stuff from what i could gather.. a few days of that and they just wander off into the ice and the cliffs.. never are seen again.. so we had to get these boys from bolivia.. they don't like the cold but they can do the altitude and the miles.. and they don't seem fain to heed the cautionary tale.. don't think they can even understand the local folk.. we are about halfway down to the first base camp now.. we got her wrapped in military canvas and climbing rope atop a real slim pulk.. just gon' slide'er right on down come morning.. gettin ready to turn in for the night now.. caught a chill it seems in the last hour or so.. other kid in the company said he did too.. be glad to be down to halfway civilization soon..
