Recurring Dream
It always started the same. A bright room, so bright it was blinding, almost like someone was shining a light into my eyes. I had been walking into a house that seemed very familiar but I felt uneasy. I didn’t know what made me feel that way, or why it was so bright. Everything was quiet, the only thing I could hear was the sound of my own heartbeat, which seemed to be pounding in my ears. Looking around the house, I couldn’t see anything except some stairs and a sliding glass door that didn’t seem to lead anywhere.Then, I felt as though someone was watching me and started to feel an overwhelming anxiety. I felt an eerie presence, and the already blinding light grew even brighter, someone or perhaps something, was coming down those lonely stairs. I tried my best to see what it was but as it grew closer, the light became brighter and everything grew hazy. I felt a sense of dread and my body froze. Whatever that thing was, it was getting closer, and my anxiety spiked. Although I couldn’t see what it was, I felt its presence getting closer to me, but before it could reach me, I woke up. It happened every time.
The dread of the dream always lingered for a bit after I woke.
