This is an entry for the #Realm-of-Fantasy the contest.

I recently played Mirror's edge on PS3 and loved the stark urban design.The lighting as well was an important part. I wanted to capture a feeling of this along with the element of free running with a slight Science fiction twist.

This juxtaposed with a fantasy element. I thought about what would blend in with this scene. A dragon was the perfect choice.

A fair few hours experimentation went into trying to get the right feel for the cityscape as with the lighting of the whole scene. I used the basic version of Vue to create both the mid and background along with the sky. A bit of experimental modelling with Carrara, experimentation and positioning of the figures and some of the rendering done in Poser. I know a few people arn't keen on poser but again I view it as a tool in much the same way as a camera, paintbrush or pencil. The elements exist already as they do when you take a photograph but its upto you to frame, light and postion them. There are many aspects and poser was just part of the workflow.

I also did a lot of experimentation with shaders with the texturing of the dragon.

Most of all I wanted a joining of worlds - that both characters shared something on the rooftops together that those below new nothing of.
