"Mint Chip took a long, long time to get her cutie mark. Ever since she was a little filly, she felt sure that video games were her calling, and she spent many hours and many tokens at the arcade until she had the highest score in every game. Still, her cutie mark wouldn't appear. When Chip got older, she took a coding class in school and realized that she really loved working with computers, and she got an idea. She got together with her friends from the arcade and her friends from coding class, and together they made their very own video game for the school science fair. They didn't win, but their project was very popular with the visitors, especially the foals. Mint Chip was proud to have helped make a game that brought ponies so much happiness, and as that feeling of pride welled up inside her, her cutie mark finally appeared."

Much like brown bodies, brown hair seems very rare in official ponies, despite there being certain cases where it seems like a no-brainer. Even though I don't care for the taste of mint chocolate chip ice cream, I love how it looks, and it seemed like a good idea for a pony. I'm a little less confident in how her cutie mark turned out. I like how it's a visual pun on mint chocolate chip ice cream and computer chips, but I'm not sure if the execution works. Also, as someone who is still working through FiM, how have video games been handled in the G5 shows? In the New Generation movie, the pegasi have smartphones and social media, but the unicorns' DDR clone has no digital component whatsoever. Meanwhile in the distant past of FiM, even landline phones were seemingly not a thing, but a real arcade cabinet was briefly shown. I'm a bit confused as to whether video games belong in MLP, and to what degree. The messages have been pretty mixed.
