The story behind this sketch is utterly unbelievable.I drew this sketch a long time ago, I don’t know when. It was an attempt to bring forth what I imagined my perfect…mate, for lack of a better word, would look like. Scruffy hair, deep emotional eyes, lean form, just the fanciful basics that I knew I really liked. You always see in Shojo-ai anime and manga those very romantic anime scenes where the guy carries the girl somewhere. So I just doodled a little design.
After drawing this image, about a month later I ended up meeting one of my boyfriend’s friends, who had just recently moved here, and he looked exactly like this picture! Nathan was his name.
I was a bit confused but thought nothing of it, until my boyfriend and I mutually broke up and I started dating Nathan.
We were together for three years and then on Jun 3, 2011 he proposed. We are now happily married [link]
Sorry for the glimpse into my life, but I find the whole serendipity of this rather humorous and exciting. But again I apologize if it was not what you usually like to read in a

I always say to people that when art work is personal, it stands better on a firm ground because there is a strong meaning behind it that will be inspiring to someone one day. After reading your story, it made me smile that you had a visual idea of what your ideal person would look like;
even though people may do that sometimes, it shows that they want someone that will make them happy.
Although there was an unfortunate break up, it lead you into something that you're going to cherish. I think that the eyes are powerful in this sketch because the boy's eyes seem to bloom, and his face having a gentle smile shows the compassion in this atmosphere.
I'm glad that you wrote the meaning behind this because it helps me understand just how much this drawing actually means to you.

I think the reason so many like it is because they feel the same way you did when you drew this. They like the soft emotions behind the picture, and how it tells a story not only on its own, but actually became one. The picture signifies some sort of perfection in love and relationships, but keeps things incredible simply and adorable at the same time. Plus it's really well drawn. Thats why I like it anyways. ^^
