It is a KoolKittyKat ’s work that inspired this little comic ; Just for the pleasure to tease our good little Cloud…Thanks to 775522 who helped me for the dialogues.

Cloud is unable to jump and move around so quickly like that with his large sword, he is more mobile with his First Tsurugi sword however.
But in AC, he fumbles over and Sephiroth stabs him.
Conclusion: Bad footwork

For Cloud's strength, his huge sword is a thin rapier-like weapon ! And in AC he jumps and even flies very well with it ! If Sephy stabs Cloud, it is because Cloud has a moment of tiredness ; nothing to do with footwork, in my opinion...

Then why does he still wield his swords two handedly, if it is supposed to be rapier-like?
I have seen a documentary about weapons a while ago~
Cloud fights as if he holds a japanese sabre, or any other 2 handed, thick weapon

This weapon focuses on slashing and has 1 SHARP SIDE.
The wielder also JUMPS ALOT to put more strength in his weapon, as we see Cloud doing this as well.
But as I said, any other 2 handed, thick weapon is good... especially western ones.
Sephiroth's style can be compared with the fighting style of a japanese sword, the katana.

This weapon focuses on stabbing and swift movements, also has 2 SHARP SIDES.
Sephiroth could also use rapiers this way...
Conclusion: Cloud uses strength and thick/heavy weapons, Sephiroth uses agility and thin/lighter weapons~
Sure, Cloud is (a bit) agile... and Sephiroth strong... but every warrior needs both strength and agility! :3
