Description
This past Father's Day I drew an image of my Dad among his favorite comic book characters. My mom asked me to draw Dad hanging out with Sergio Aragone's Groo the Wanderer and the cast of characters from that comic. I love my father to no end. He's 88 years old and has had a huge impact on me as an artist. If it wasn't for him, I'm not sure I'd ever have picked up a pencil.

I'm a huge fan of Sergio Aragones myself and his artwork has also had a huge impact on me. It's rare to see an artist who can draw an army of detailed characters and it not be ugly or too busy. Groo the Wanderer is his most famous work and it's a great read, managing to tell the story of half-witted barbarian in a way that's funny, sharp. sometimes sweet but rarely cruel.

Needless to say, creating this drawing has provided me a means to honor two men who have had a huge impact of my life.
