Description
Nothing like some self doubt to spur on some inspiration for a drawing. Here we have Crys as a werewolf gazing over the ledge of a rooftop during one of those pesky full moons.Tried a few different things with this drawing. Firstly, the idea for the pose and such just kinda popped into my head. I messed around a little bit with perspective, since the metaphorical camera is situated at a low angle and to the side. It winds up making Crys' foot and leg kind of bigger since it's closer to the camera. I'd say I did a decent job for what I was going for, especially since I didn't use any pose references. Nothing seems too out of whack, and it all looks fairly proportional to me. I spent a bit of time working on the arms to make sure joints look right, especially with her left (viewers right) arm being bent like it is. Also, I changed up the shading that I usually do. Since I wanted this to be darker, I put aside my usual 3-layer method and did a sort of reverse shading. Basically I started with a really dark color then airbrushed the lighter highlights on top of that, then went back and added a few more dark highlights to make it look right. Think for a different approach to shading (and one I'm not very used to) I did pretty good.
This is one of those "I'm going to prove myself wrong" pieces. Basically, I've been feeling pretty frustrated lately and just wanted to prove to myself that I can make a pretty good looking piece, so that's what I did. I could go into it more, but frankly I don't think it matters all that much.
Anywho, hope whoever's seeing this has a wonderful whenever they're seeing it!
EDIT:
I went back and brightened things up. It was bothering me how dark the details were, so I just had to do something about it because I really like how everything else turned out. Uh, yeah. Anywho, back to working on new things.
