I think you should go ahead an give him the letter, but make sure it says Merry Christmas on the front. But I think that would be a great idea. Just keep it simple, try to avoid any mushy stuff, and you will be fine.

That shouldn't matter... If you want to give him a card, then she shouldn't have a problem with it. (But then again, I don't know your friend so...) I would make her a card, just in case things get sticky.
