Another design ref, this time for the younger of the 2 villain kids!

Sealed away for 1000 years with the Crystal Empire upon his father's first defeat, the son of the King of Shadows and the Queen of the Changelings is back.

Garnet is an attention-seeking, impressionable little foal. Being so young, he is pretty naive and impatient. He does tend to be very eager to please those close to him, having been taught since his return that if everything goes well then he'll be returned to the life he knew before. He has very little understanding of consequences, having learned throughout his foalhood that they only apply to others. He didn't have much time to learn how to shapeshift, given his half-pony nature he can currently only transform into ponies. But, given the lack of experience, he usually just turns into a mostly inverse-coloured, full-pony version of himself.

1000 years ago, Garnet had lived with his father in the Crystal Empire during his rule. He lived in luxury, with the changelings stealing the love from the depressed crystal ponies and his father ruling with an iron hoof, Garnet & his sister found themselves pampered within the empire's walls.
But when Celestia & Luna rose against her father, he sealed the kingdom and his children away in a banishment spell. For 1000 years, the siblings were hidden from the world, stuck in limbo, until their father's return brought them back. They fled once Princess Cadence approached, unknowing of their father's fate.

With their revival of King Sombra and the cunning of Queen Chrysalis, the siblings are promised their previous titles back upon victory. Little Garnet can't wait to be at the top again!
