"Alright, so let me recap just to see if I got this straight... Both Rain and Okola specifically warned and told you about the dangers of the Deelagun was bringing when the announcement was received-""Uh-huh"
"Rain especially made it clear to not leave the house due to how dangerous things were already getting-"
"Yup"
"And despite what you were told, you still chose to go against her wishes because you wanted to prove that you'll be fine and wanted to have an excuse to use your 'stab' weapon?"
"Mmhm..."
"Peri..." Casper sighed, disappointed at what his sister put herself through. He wasn't at all angry with Peri, but given he knows how obedient she normally is he was merely discontented with her actions. Guess he should be more than relieved that nothing fatal came out of it when she blindly took on the Deelagun. He hated that the damned monster is the reason he gained a notch in his left ear... Still, it didn't change the fact that she deliberately disobeyed her older sisters.
The blue gro crossed her arms and lowered her head where her hair drooped on the opposite side, exposing her only good eye. Part of her was still displeased that she didn't land a single scratch on that foul beast with her 'stabby' weapon. She didn't even care that she got injured in the process. Including losing sight in her right eye; which was usually the eye that was normally covered by her hair. She just wanted to find the perfect opportunity to use the weapon that she crafted, but to no avail it was unsuccessful. There's no point on reflecting back on something so disappointing...
"Hey..." Casper leaned in. "I know the Doctor said that it's fine without the bandages now. But, mind if I...?" He motioned for her to push her hair to the other side of her face to get a glimpse of her right side. That is if she didn't mind.
Peri gave a small shrug. She brushed her hair to her left to give her brother a look at it. Revealing a blind eye and a nasty scar around it.
Just by merely looking at it sent a wave of chills dancing up Casper's spine. Practically reminding him of the burnt scar his sister Rain received on her right shoulder from a Wisp two warptides ago at Greymoor Mansion. He prayed that his sister, or sisters, wouldn't get caught in a potentially bad Warptide in the future and not get horribly injured. His prayers clearly weren't received seeing how one of his sisters still managed to obtain a permanent injury from Warptide.
"Peri" he softly called her name. She didn't meet his eyes but was listening to what he was about to say. "I don't think we've told you this at any point, but Rain was once caught up in a Warptide couple years ago at the Greymoor Mansion when she ate a mushroom that made her go wild. Again..." Looking back at that made him want to facepalm when Rain told him about it the first time. Somehow he's still relieved that she gave up her weird snack habit of mushrooms...
"There, she was with few other Wyngrew. Or rather, she was sort of kinda the reason they wound up there. Well, okay. Jemik, yes. The other two, no, as she and Jem just happened to come across a couple others who were also in quite the messy situation. A-Anyway...! Thing is, she was involved in a Warptide herself and came out with a scar when she was protecting Jemik from the Wisp that was about to burn her into a delicious crisp. Which makes you think how our own flesh would taste in all honesty-"
"Big brother..." Peri gave him an unamused blank stare.
"S-Sorry!" he scratched the back of his head, embarassed for nearly getting off track like that. "Point is... despite Rain is usually the brave one and acts like nothing bothers her I know for a fact that she didn't want you or Okola to face what she did two Warptides ago. Heck! I wouldn't, either!"
Casper reached out to place his hand on her shoulder. His ears fell back. "Look, Peri... I know you have your 'moments' when you want to do something wild and crazy. Albeit, mostly crazy..." he cleared his throat at that remark. "The fear I felt when I received word about Rain being in the infirmary made me believe that she was in a heavy critical condition to the extent that I thought she might..." He shook his head to reject the thought. "I don't want to lose my sisters, Peri. I don't want to lose my family... You, Okola, Rain, my beautiful boyfriend, my handsome and adorable son- I'm not sure if my heart could handle losing those that I love. I don't think I'd ever be prepared if something were to happen to any of you... I'm pretty sure Rain didn't want to lose one of her sisters."
Peri briefly glanced up at Casper as he expressed his fear and Rain's reasons for not letting her participate in the fight. It made sense, really. She loves her family a whole lot. She can't say that she wouldn't be broken up about what would happen to her brother and sisters if something dire were to happen to them. It never really occured to her when she dismissed her sister's wishes. But she understands now. Her sisters and brother would be in a lot of pain if she were to meet an unexpected end.
She scooted closer to Casper, leaning in for a hug and squeezing him tight.
"Peri understands, big brother... Peri will not disobey big sister Rain and Okola again. Peri promise..." she said as she hugs him tighter.
Casper embraced her, caressing her back. "As long as you understand... It usually takes time to heal from such scarring events." He gazed at the window, viewing the moon that hangs in the sky. "I have this strange dread feeling that after what happened, everything and everyone definitely need this time to heal... And it's going to take a long time, I reckon. Oh! And uh, Peri?"
"Yes, big brother?"
"Could... you let go now? You're squeezing me a biiiit too tight... It feels like I'm starting to lose... feeling in one of my limbs..."
"Oh!" She released him, but chuckled as she watched him catch his breath. "Sorry! Heehee!!"
He couldn't help but laugh with her. Even though he lives with Scott now, it felt nice being with one of his sisters again; laughing and enjoying each others' presence. Along with being a bunch of goofy dorks.
Casper ceased his laughter when he remembered something when he came to. It filled his heart with deep worry of what he heard when he was regaining his consciousness. He stood up to approach the door and looked back at his sister-
"I... need to go see Dr.F about something. Then I'll head home afterwards." Before he stepped out of the room he glanced at his sister with a soft grin. "I'll see you later, Peri. And tell Rain and Okola I said hi."
With that he took his leave and shut the door behind him. Leaving the blue gro by herself.
Peri looked out the window, staring up at the moon. Contemplating about her sister Rain. She was going to bring it up with Casper but apparently, it'll have to wait. Peri has been sensing something is wrong with Rain that she's trying to hide from her and Okola. A discussion that'll have to wait with Casper another time...
