Description
Enough time has passed since the horrid events that was last year's Warptide. So many were injured, and so many lives were lost to that dreaded creature along with the plague that spawned after its demise. It was genuinely a lot to take in and left many emotional scars....And heavy guilt.
As if seeing one of his sisters' with a scar on top of a blinded eye wasn't enough, his boyfriend also fell victim to blindness during the attack.
The guilt was so heavy... He could've been there to prevent it from happening. Something could have been done to ensure nothing like that could've happen. If only he had stayed with him that night instead of going out for his usual 'night flight.' He... wasn't there. He wasn't there when he was needed the most...
For that, he felt completely responsible for what happened to Scott and refuses to leave his side ever again. Even if the howling noise from the winds in the sky are calling his name to take flight, he won't allow anything to separate him from his lover ever again. Both him and his son, Soleil...
The latter whom was concerned over his father who he hasn't seen wore a grin after he learned about Scott's loss of eyesight. It was... sad. His father wore a beaming grin almost like it was a routine. But it was a part of him. Smiling, being kind and supportive, while also being tearfully emotional over small things... It's what made Casper himself. It felt different not seeing that side of him anymore...
Soleil would often check up on Cas and attempt to talk and comfort him. But his father appeared to be so despondent that he was even lucky enough to get him to exchange more than a few words. Or if he even bothered to look at him...
The Wyngling continues these attempts in hopes of cheering him up. He won't give up on his father, for he never once gave up on him...
Just as Soleil walks in to one of the rooms where his father might be, he sees Casper with a bit of spoodle wool that he was sewing up. He gave a curious head tilt. What could he be sewing that wool for? Maybe this little curiosity of his might help to get him to talk more.
Soleil approached and sat down next to Casper. He examined the wool that he was sewing up.
Casper seemed fixated on the task that he hasn't at all heeded his son's presence. It's now or never to break the silence...
*ahem*
"Papa?"
...
"Papa? What are you sewing there?"
"Hm? Oh. Hey, Soleil. I, uh... didn't hear what you said."
"It's alright. I asked what are sewing?"
"Oh? This? I'm... trying my hand at sewing... Well, actually. It's for that Wyngling Scott brought home. I... just want her to feel comfortable since this is her new home now. She'd probably want a soft cozy bed to sleep on."
"Is that what the spoodle wool is for?"
"Yeah... I'm not the best at sewing but, I want to 'try', ya know?"
"Mhm. I understand."
...
"Soleil?"
"Yes, Papa?"
"I'm sorry about how I've been over these last few months... And I really appreciate that you've been taking the time to come and see me. Even if it's not much of a conversation these days..."
"It's okay, Papa. I understand. Really."
"Thanks..."
...
"Soleil?"
"Yes?"
"...Heh... I love you, kiddo."
