Ah... good old Seance - by far my main dragon, whether based in Wings of Fire or in his own universe.

Seance is a Synthwing - a fan species of mine ( and just standard species outside of WoF )

Synthwings are invasive space dragons capable of wormhole travel and phasing between dimensions to invade other planets and take over the local population. Not all of them can do this - but that's lore I can get into another time, when I open Synthwing's discord server officially.

In the Wings of Fire universe he is a Night/Synth hybrid; his father being a nightwing, his mother being a synthwing.

Seance has no idea what he is beyond a nightwing- believing he just inherited his fairly abnormal pigmentation from his mother, not knowing her true origins.

His story does not take place in the canon universe of the current WoF timeline - strictly an AU based around the time of the Scorching, well before the current series of books.

In his AU, humans are still prevalent, as is the rise of his father's theoretical Empire.

I'm not going to delve too much into lore here, it'd take forever.

Tldr:
=Seance's father is a cruel dragon and dictator
=Seance is a fighter in his father's arena and the heir to the throne - he has to fight, he has no choice ( yet )
=He is primarily synthwing presenting, with only mild traces of nightwing
=The gold on his claws, horns, and canines is not natural - they are plated and meant to emphasize his status among the Empire. The gold canines specifically imply his success as an arena hardened champion
=His harsh personality and demeanor heavily ties into his upbringing - he is not inherently evil, which is later shown with his story involving Begonia
=His love for mangoes directly ties into his brief meeting with Begonia
=Superficial wounds bleed red, deeper damage reveals his more teal/vibrant interior, giving away the fact that he is not native to the planet
