Words Below:

Foster was a student at Magic Academy.  He never liked the rain.  One day he hoped to cast a spell that would stop the rain or at least make sure it did not rain on him but such a spell was way beyond his ability.  Even the recent graduates could not hope to do something like control the weather.  However, Foster was a dreamer and he would not let something like the extreme difficulty of the spell get in the way.

The years went by.  The more Foster learned about the spell, the more he realized how difficult it would be.  It was his final year and he still had not made any progress.  Just when he was about to give up, he came up with a simpler solution, a magic umbrella.  All he had to do was create an umbrella that would appear every time it rained.

Foster waited for the next rain which happened while he was at school.  A female student walked through the rain with an umbrella.  It was the perfect opportunity.  He cast a spell that would cause an umbrella just like that one to appear over his head every time it rained.  He would have to wait until the next time it rained to find out whether or not the spell actually worked but at least the spell was done.

A few days later it rained again.  Foster usually avoided the rain but this time he deliberately stepped outside to see if his spell actually worked.  The spell did work but it had a few side effects he did not anticipate.  An umbrella just like the one the girl he had seen was holding appeared over his head.  However, he also changed so he looked just like the girl he had seen.

Looking at himself, or herself, Foster knew it was not an illusion and the changes were complete.  She even still had her old umbrella with her despite the new one appearing.  She wondered what had gone wrong with the spell.  There were so many ways a spell could be altered, both intentionally and unintentionally, that it was difficult to even guess what the mistake might have been.

Foster guessed she had copied the girl with the umbrella instead of just the umbrella but she could not remember exactly what she had done so there was no way to tell for sure.  Once she had dried off, she changed back.  Foster was relieved the change was not permanent.  However the next time it rained, he changed into a girl with an umbrella once again.

This would happen every time it rained until he figured out how to cancel the spell.  He would either have to do lots of research or somehow avoid places where it rained entirely.  Neither idea was appealing to him.
