"Ow... my head... Hey! Where am I?"

Dusk looked around frantically.

Looking down at her reflection in a nearby pool, she immediately saw the problem. She was a small, brown pokemon, with a fluffy tail and large ears.

"No way! I turned into an Eevee!"

"What is that supposed to mean?"

Dusk quickly turned around to find a slightly larger blue pokemon standing on two legs. It had red eyes.

Is that a Riolu?! Dusk thought to herself.

The Riolu tilted his head.

"Are you sure you're okay? I found you out in the forest, completely unconscious. Thank goodness I was there to save you, huh?"

He puffed out his chest, clearly proud.

"So, uh... What's your name?"

Dusk shook out her fur and stood up.

"My name is Dusk. What's yours?"

"My name is Code. Nice to meet you! But, just so we don't look too suspicious, let's just refer to each other as 'Eevee and Riolu', okay?"

"Sure."

As Dusk examined him, she found that he had some kind of bag and a scarf around his neck.

"What's that?"

"Oh! You see, we have rescue teams around here who help pokemon in trouble. I just so happen to be one of those rescue pokemon! But, I'm by myself. I don't have any team members, and I don't need any."

Dusk pouted. Then, an idea sprang to her mind.

"Well, I think I will join you. Whether you want me to or not! You could probably use my power... So how about this. Let's have a battle! If you win, you continue to work alone. If I win, you have to let me join you!"

"Fine! But I won't lose to a normal type like you!"

Riolu dashed towards her.

Eevee quickly dodged and moved behind him.

Riolu jumped off a rock and used Force Palm.

Eevee was sent flying back and into a tree.

She stood up and looked around.

Suddenly she smirked and used Sand Attack, blinding Riolu.

When Riolu opened his eyes, she was gone.

"Haaaah!"

Eevee dropped from a branch and used the momentum to speed up her Quick Attack.

Riolu yelped and was flattened by her.

She had him pinned down.

She was about to attack once more, when suddenly she found that she could not move.

Riolu used this opening to use Bite. Eevee yelped and jumped back.

"What? Why couldn't I move?"

Riolu smirked.

"You're paralyzed from Force Palm."

Eevee quickly filled with panic as she couldn't move once more.

Riolu saw his chance.

"You're finished, Eevee!"

He charged at full speed.

"Not if I can help it!"

Eevee used Tackle with full power, sending Riolu flying.

"Oof!"

He landed on his bag, causing a stone to fall out. Both of them stopped and turned to look at it. Riolu grabbed it and looked at Eevee. When he did, the stone began to glow. Eevee blinked and saw another light from the corner of her vision.

At her paws was another stone, also glowing. After a while, they both stopped glowing.

Riolu finally broke the silence.

"It looks like we should work together after all."

He pulled out two items. He attached a band to his arm and put the stone inside it. He walked over to Eevee and put a band around one of her legs. He placed the other stone inside that one.

"This way, we will be able to recognize each other."

"And we will be connected."

The stones flashed after this was said.

Riolu smiled and reached out his hand.

"Partners?"

Eevee smiled.

"Partners."

She gave him her paw. He pulled out a ribbon and tied it around the base of one of her ears.

They were a team. A rescue team.
