"Come on! You don't feel that bad!"
"I do! I really don't feel good!
You and your little sister had been having this oh-so-delightful conversation.
Suddenly, your sister stopped and smiled sweetly.
Too sweetly.
"Got you."
"Wh-?"
Then the ground opened, and you fell right into a cannon.
"Oh no..."
"Oh yes! Goodbye, (name)!"
"Noooo!"
You were sent flying into the sky. Before you could process what was happening, your vision faded to black.
"Ow... My head...'
You blinked and looked up.
"Wh-"
After realizing that you were in an entirely new location, you turned your head, trying to grasp your surroundings.
"Gah! Why on earth did I think that looking around would be a good idea...?"
"Well, that's probably cause you're not on Earth."
Jumping and looking up you came face to face with a beautiful woman, wearing a gown of... bubbles? You were in her bath! She had a wand in one hand, and another with a small cigarette on a gorgeous yellow cigarette holder.
She lifted her wand and a spark appeared on the tip, lighting the stick.
She put it up to her lips, and after a moment, blew out a smoke ring. Well, smoke star.
You were impressed with her skill, but before you could compliment it, you suddenly felt dizzy, and stumbled awkwardly.
Right onto her chest.
She jumped, almost dropping both of the items in her hands.
"You alright? Need to rest for a bit?"
Unable to speak from fatigue, you nodded.
'Grr.... Curse my little sister! Why would they fire me from that stupid cannon?!'
She didn't seem to notice your plight putting some clothes on and simply leading you on, further into the place that you could only describe as a 'comet observatory'.
She muttered to you as she walked along.
"My name is Rosalina, by the way. Feel free to stay here until you feel better."
"Thank you..."
Rosalina then began to smoke the cigarette once more, giving you the time to see how intricate the design on the cigarette holder was. Rosalina seemed to be contemplating something.
Before you could ask what was wrong, she spoke.
"We're here. In here you will find a bed. I insist that you rest. I will be in there shortly."
Without anywhere else to go, you obeyed.
After a while, a knock resounded in the room, and Rosalina entered, with a book in hand.
"Would you like to hear a story while you rest?"
And so, day after day, the process repeated. You wake up. She comes in with some light food and reads to you. Time for lunch; soup. Then, reading. Then, dinner. Then, sleep. The process kept going for quite a few days. You thought about your little sister. Was she worried? While you wanted to believe that, part of you doubted it.
You sighed, trying to shake the feeling of dizziness coming back.
Rosalina walked in, a look of sympathy on her face. Suddenly, an idea seemed to spring to her mind.
"Want to see some space fireworks?"
You smiled.
"Yeah! That sounds cool!"
She took your hand and walked outside. After waving her wand, all the Comet Observatory's lights turned off.
A bunch of creatures called 'Lumas' carried out the sticks of explosions. After using her cigarette to light them, you watched the dazzling display. After it was all over, you looked over at Rosalina to thank her, but your eyes wandered to one firework that wasn't launched yet.
"What about that one, Rosalina?"
She followed your gaze and smiled mischievously.
"Whoops. Guess I forgot that one. Would you like to see it?"
You could tell she was lying about forgetting, but curiosity got the better of you.
She smirked and grabbed you.
"H-hey! What are you doing?!"
"Wouldn't the view be better... from the rocket?"
"Ah! Wait!"
She attached you to the rocket and lit it.
You squealed from joy and fear as you flew to the stars.
Just before it blew up, you felt yourself being protected. Rosalina had used her magic to protect you from being hurt.
You smiled nudged her teasingly after reaching safety.
Little did you know, something even stranger happened to you the next day.
"Want to see my pride and joy?"
"Sure...?"
You weren't exactly sure what she meant, but you followed along anyway.
She lead you to a gorgeous flower garden. Your eyes were drawn to what was definitely her 'pride and joy'.
A large purple piranha plant. Rosalina began to take off her clothes. You immediately yelped and panicked, not wanting a repeat of how you landed...
You were relieved to find a light blue bathing suit underneath. She handed you a two-piece bathing suit and jumped inside the plant.
You jumped. Did she seriously just jump inside it? Wasn't she going to die? You quickly changed and leaped in after her, wanting to save her. Boy, were you surprised. Inside was what looked like a luxury pool. Rosalina was swimming inside, a nice, relaxed smile on her face.
You laughed and jumped in after her, causing a huge splash. After a while of playing around, Rosalina led you back to your room, not wanting you to get more sick. Unfortunately, after all these days, you were feeling no better.
Finally, Rosalina walked in with a new book and a cigar. it was large, and it was orange.
Concern washed over you. A huge cigar? This just spelled disaster.
Or so you thought.
"This cigar is not like what I was smoking before. This was has medicinal properties. Not only should it last all day, but it should smell fairly decent too."
She began to smoke and read the new book, occasionally blowing out smoke rings in the shapes of what she was talking about.
A sweet citrus smell washed over you. A kind of motherly, loving aura seemed to fall over the room.
After a while of listening to this new story, you noticed something while watching the smoky illusions.
The little girl in this story...
It was Rosalina.
You looked at her, and she returned the glance with a slight smile. She finished the book as both the night and your eyelids fell.
The next day, you felt fully energized.
Rosalina ran inside and smiled.
"I have a way to return you to your planet! But I will need you to help me. We should be done by nightfall."
You nodded and smiled, glad to finally help her.
Assembling the return cannon- yes, this was her idea of returning you- was harder than you thought. Some of the materials in space were a lot heavier than they looked. But, after hours of labor, the cannon was ready to fire.
Rosalina turned the cannon toward your planet.
"Ready to go home?"
You frowned. Why didn't you want to go home? You prepared yourself to say no, I want to stay here, but then your family came to mind. Your parents must be worried sick...
Finally, You nodded, forcing a sad smile, which Rosalina returned.
"Yes. I'm ready to go."
She lifted you into the cannon, seeming to want to say something, but shook her head and moved behind the cannon.
"Once I use this, it will be destroyed. Are you sure you want to go?"
"Yes... I must. But thank you for everything, Rosalina."
"You're welcome... (name)."
Your name was the last thing she said, before she lit her cigar and sent you back home.
You couldn't help but laugh a bit as you looked back at her, covered in soot and ash from the explosion.
Then, everything went black.
You woke up in the lawn, a small crater around you.
Looking up at the stars, you wondered what Rosalina was doing.
What if she got sick?
The stars twinkled, as if answering 'yes'.
But the stars may just twinkle when she lights those cigarettes of hers.
You knew one thing for sure.
Your thoughts would fly to her...
When the stars alight.
