Description Looking up at the sky, Kellen sighed. He didn't know what to do. With life throwing curveballs at every turn, he was more lost than ever. He had a dream on the Day of the Dead. Some new world, or something. He had heard that there was a strange man that had come through their little village a few days prior. They said he was fairly small and had black hair. Kellen found himself intrigued by the thought.

Night after night, he tried his hardest to dream of that little village again.

Kellen was fairly large. Not fat, just tall. The thought of a mysterious smaller man made him giggle. He always found that kind of thing cute. One night, he finally found the village. All of the villagers were outside their houses and staring at someone. After getting a bit closer, Kellen saw him. The man that would change his life.

"I'm telling you; it's the truth! If this thing is not stopped, you will all perish!"

The villagers seemed to be too busy staring at his fairly small stature to really grasp what he was saying.

"Ugh... If only a human were here... He would know that I am telling the truth! After all, I am a- oh! You! Over there!"

Kellen blinked in confusion. Was this person referring to him? With a baffled expression, Kellen walked over to the small man.

"Ah, at last! You will journey with me, right?"

"Journey with you? Where would we be going exactly?"

"Well... I can't exactly tell you without getting in trouble from my executives, so just come with me and you'll see! I am VERY trustworthy you know..."

Suddenly, Kellen saw angel wings on this man, and when he blinked, they were gone.

Kellen paused for a moment to think it over before coming to a decision.

"Alright. I will come with you. On one condition."

"Hmm?"

"We will protect each other from any dangers we encounter on the way. I'll protect you and you'll protect me."

"I wouldn't do it any other way, my friend. Come, it is time that we leave."

Kellen followed the strange man into the dark forest just outside the village. The man came to a stop and turned back to him.

"We should camp out here for now. We can travel at dawn. These woods are very dangerous at night."

"Okay."

As they set up camp, Kellen turned to the small man.

"What is your name, if I may ask?"

"My name is Daniel. And your name is?"

"Kellen. It is nice to finally know the name of my partner."

Silence followed. Daniel looked around for a moment before his eyes became fixated on something.

Kellen was about to ask what it was, but it was too late.

A small deer leaped out from the bushes and dashed over to Daniel. Daniel smiled sadly at the little deer.

"Again? Honestly... I am starting to spoil you too much, you know."

The deer rolled over next to him and showed its belly. Daniel began to pet it.

Kellen watched in awe. Daniel seemed to notice and chuckled.

"Want me to pet your belly, too?"

"What? N-no I was j-just-"

"Yes."

"Huh?"

"You can come pet the deer too, if you want."

The deer glared up at him before Daniel whispered something to it. Its face softened and it nodded.

Kellen crawled over and began to pet the deer. After a bit, the deer stretched. Kellen caught a glimpse of its hind leg, with a large scar on it. It seemed to be in the process of healing.

"What happened to it?"

Daniel frowned before responding.

"People were hunting deer around this area, and they shot this little fawn just for the fun of it. Luckily, I was passing through and helped it escape. I then casted a spell on it to help its leg heal quicker."

"A spell?"

"Yes."

Daniel's wings appeared.

"I am what is called an Aegis Fairy; a fairy that looks like an angel."

Kellen couldn't help but giggle a bit.

"What's so funny?"

"I always pictured a fairy as a small, cute girl! I never would have imagined that one could be a sweet angel boy!"

Daniel blushed a bit.

"Y-yeah, whatever..."

Daniel began to look down a bit as he explained.

"Well, most of the fairies that people see are girls... Our Queen made it that way. They are her messengers."

"So what do you guys do?"

"..."

"...?"

Daniel looked upset over something.

"Hey... If you don't want to talk about it, you don't have to."

Daniel looked up in surprise.

Kellen just shrugged and grinned.

"It's your business. If you ever want to talk about it, I'm here for you."

Daniel looked genuinely touched.

"Th-thank you so much, Kellen..."

"No worries. I'm here to protect you, just like I promised."

Daniel blushed a bit more. Kellen finally noticed this and giggled.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to embarrass you. But you're cute when you blush!"

Daniel forced a pout and looked away.

Kellen frowned. He hadn't meant to offend him. Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind. Kellen smirked.

Daniel looked at him, secretly curious as to what he was planning.

Before he knew it, Kellen had tackled him and was fiercely tickling him.

"Gahahahahahahahahahahaha! W-wait! I cahahahahahahahahan't take thihihihihihihihihis! Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"

Daniel was curling up and laughing. His laugh was bubbly and contagious. After a while he began to hiccup and snort a bit, unable to control his manic laughter.

Kellen couldn't help but laugh too. It was just too cute!

Finally, Kellen stopped his onslaught and Daniel gasped for air.

"Feeling any better, Daniel?"

"W-what was that?"

"What was what?"

"What did you d-do to m-me?"

"I just tickled you. Why?"

Daniel shook his head in a confused manner.

"No one has ever tickled me before... it felt strange."

"Really? I would think that at least SOMEONE would have tickled you once... Haven't your parents ever tickled you before?"

"Parents? What are those?"

Kellen thought he was joking at first, but he looked sincere.

"You... You don't have a mom or dad?"

"Oh... No. Fairies are born from human desires. The Queen creates us based off of that. So... I suppose you could call her my mother."

"Is she nice?"

"She is. She is kind and friendly to everyone."

"That's good to hear. Oh! What was that thing you were talking about in the village? That evil thing?"

"Ah, yes. The opposite of Aethis fairies, called Nethis fairies, are planning an invasion. They wish to steal the life force of humans to sacrifice to their king. They take on the appearance of demons."

"So they have, like, demon wings?"

"Yes."

"Oh! Speaking of which, can I please see your wings?"

"What?! Why?"

"They are just really pretty... and they look so soft. I was just wondering what it would feel like."

Daniel paused before smiling a bit.

"Well... we should be getting to bed anyway..."

He unfolded his wings and turned to face Kellen, sitting against a tree.

The deer curled up under one of his wings and leaned against him.

Daniel motioned for Kellen to come closer.

Kellen crawled over and felt the soft wing wrap around him. He cuddled up close to Daniel.

Daniel tensed up at first, but after a while, he relaxed and allowed both of his wings to rest on them. They all closed their eyes and fell into a wistful dream.
