You’ve met the good guys, now meet the bad guys: the DoomHunters. Starting with their leader, Darkness.

I know, the title of "chaotic evil" is also an alignment, but it seemed so fitting of him.

“Josh used to have a bit of a temper problem. When he got angry, he’d flip out. However, recently, he’d ignore whatever was making him angry, unless it built up too much. If that happened, there’d be heck to pay.

“A Lakitu spy reported to Kammy Koopa with footage of Josh losing his temper from impatience and punching a tree. However, when he punched it, it became uprooted and went flying a record distance. Kammy informed Bowser of this and told him she had a way to use this power to their advantage.

“The Lakitu was sent out to tail Josh and watch for him to build up his temper, which happened when he lost a lot of coins at Grate Guy’s Casino. The Lakitu called Bowser and Kammy, and they rushed over to ambush Josh. Bowser attacked Josh while Kammy readied a spell she created for this situation. When Josh had reached his limit and was about to unleash his anger, Kammy fired the spell at Josh. It incapacitated him, and a dark mist emanated from his body. Kammy collected the mist in a bottle and the villains fled. Josh regained consciousness minutes later.

Back at Bowser’s castle, Kammy released the mist and used another spell on it to make it take a living form. Its form looked a lot like Josh, except evil and wearing a dark coat. Bowser told the new being that he was his new henchman. The being responded by promptly leveling the castle and escaping to parts unknown.”

That being, created from Josh’s anger and Koopa magic, became known as Darkness. Josh gave him that name during their first meeting, when Josh found him destroying a mushroom village. After discovering that he had his own villain, Josh chose to go into the hero business and formed the CodeHunters with his friends. Darkness acquired a home by taking over the fortress formerly used by the Koopa Bros.

That purple flame around his hand is dark energy, which he can form into a sword or fire out of his hand in bolts. I think being created by magic should allow him to do that.

Darkness’ character design had a few minor changes, pretty much all of them in his coat. I changed the collar around a little, and made the hem look a little eviler.

Yes, the bad guys are going to be the obligatory evil doubles of the good guys.
