Good news! I now have Photoshop, so now I can color my pictures in!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to live in the video game world. From that fantasy, came this version of myself. I even came up with an origin story.

“One rainy day after school, Dot, the neighborhood genius and one of Josh’s friends, invited him over to her house to try out her newest invention: A virtual reality device of sorts that was compatible with video games. Being the video game fan that he was, Josh couldn’t resist. He tried it out with Super Mario 64 (This occurred back in the days of the N64), and it was unlike anything he’d ever seen! It was like he was actually running and jumping around at Peach’s castle!

“Suddenly, the weather got stormy. Dot warned Josh that he had better stop playing, but Josh refused, oblivious to the sounds of the storm outside. Lightning struck the power lines near Dot’s house. Sparks flew from the machine, and soon there was a bright flash. When it cleared, Dot saw the machine was totaled and Josh was nowhere to be found.

Josh wondered what all that racket was. He tried to remove the virtual reality helmet to see what was going on, but discovered it wasn’t there. Josh looked at his surroundings. They appeared to be more real than before. Josh realized what had happened – He was actually in the Mushroom Kingdom! He was in the Nintendo dimension!”

Eventually, Josh finds a place to live in the Nintendo dimension – the Tower of Hera from A Link to the Past – and makes some friends, who will be covered in later art. A certain event – also to be covered later – brings them to become a team of heroes. For inspiration for a name, Josh uses his old Internet screen name CodeHunter64, and they become the CodeHunters.

In case you’re wondering, Dot is one of several characters I made even longer ago than the CodeHunters. And that thing on Josh’s belt is his main weapon, the Adversary Ability Assimilating Apparatus, or A4 for short. Again, I’ll cover it in later art.

The character design went through a few changes before I settled on this. Originally, the outfit was a complete ripoff of Team Rocket's uniforms, but I knew I could do better, so I came up with this. The CH on the shirt stayed from the original, but I added a ring around it. The cap used to be worn backwards, but that was changed too.
