Description And here's Neko colored in. Unfortunately, I've yet to figure out how to stop that blurring effect it has on the outlines.

“Early in Josh’s stay in the Nintendo dimension, Josh went on a Pokémon journey. He came across a rather unusual Meowth around Cerulean City. This one walked on its hind legs and wielded a stick like a sword. People in the Cerulean City Pokémon Center were talking about this Meowth, saying it was defeating the Pokémon of every trainer that tried to catch it. Josh knew he couldn’t let a Pokémon like this go. So he sent out his Squirtle to battle it. The Meowth defeated it, but Josh wouldn’t give up. He decided he would battle this Meowth himself. The Meowth accepted, and they clashed. The Meowth didn’t have much experience in fighting humans, however, and Josh managed to defeat it. The Meowth accepted its defeat and let Josh capture it. Josh dubbed his new companion Neko.

After the journey, Josh taught Neko to speak English, like the Meowth in the Pokémon anime. When he could successfully speak, Josh asked him what the deal with the swordplay was. It turns out Neko had a previous owner who was also training to be a samurai. He taught what he learned to Neko. However, the owner was tempted to the side of evil and Neko wouldn’t go with him, so he abandoned his trainer and escaped to outside Cerulean City, where he lived for a few months until Josh encountered him.”

Josh gave Neko a real katana blade, one he had found on his travels in the Nintendo dimension. Also, Neko gained an interest in sci-fi which attracted him to the adventures of Fox McCloud and the Star Fox team. He even got himself a starfighter, the Scratchcat, which was developed by Arspace Dynamics Co. Ltd., the people who made the Star Fox’s Arwings.

I chose to have a Meowth on the team because it’s my favorite Pokémon. I’m not saying it’s the best in battle – I don’t even have one on any of my teams – but it’s still my favorite.

Neko, like Josh, also started with a Team Rocket uniform ripoff. Later, I had him join the Squirrel Army from Conker’s Bad Fur Day, and he wore camos. It’s also where he originally was supposed to get the katana. Then, Rare and Nintendo split, so I decided to remove Rare’s franchises from the CodeHunter continuity. However, the sword stayed, and I came up with the story above to make up for it. Eventually, when I decided each of the CodeHunters should have their own spacecraft, I added the part about Star Fox to the story to explain where his was from. His uniform is a copy of Fox’s as well, since I couldn't come up with anything better.
